It all started on Thursday after I had my membranes stripped. Later that afternoon, I started having regular contractions, about every 2 minutes apart, but no pain at all. We went to the hospital around 6 that evening and they put me in the triage room where they monitored me. I was dilated to a 3.5 and started having some pain. They had me walk around for an hour and then rechecked me. No change. I was so upset but starting to have a lot of pain. Well they had me walk around again and no change again. The nurses on call did not want to discharge me since my contractions were so frequent and starting to be really painful. The doctor on call did discharge me because I was not dilating further. I was so upset. This was about 11:30 that night and had to go home. Even the nurse told me she thought I would be back early that next morning and have her. They gave me a sleeping pill to take the edge off and make me sleepy. Well all that did was make me not remember a whole heck of a lot, which is so sad.
Well we got home and I got straight into the bathtub where I stayed for about 3 hours. I was in so much pain, I don't even really remember much. My parents drove from the ranch which is about 5 hours away and got to my house around 2 on Friday morning, where they found me in the bathtub in a lot of pain. After a few hours of being in there, I just couldn't take it anymore and really thought I was going to die. The hot water really helped ease the pain and I really didn't want to get out, but I wanted my epidural and did not want a home birth. We managed to get back to the hospital around 4:30 that morning and I don't even really remember getting there...It was such a blur to me.
They checked me and I was dilated to a 5 so I was admitted. I vaguely remember getting my IV's. I was begging for my epidural at this point. They broke my water, which happened to get all over Ben's feet. I remember having a really painful contraction while I was getting my epidural and by this point I am already dilated to a 7. I wanted the epidural at a 3 dang it. The epidural worked in about 10 minutes, but the problem was that Morgan's heart rate was dropping any time I would lay on my right side. The doctor watched the monitor for her heart for about 30 minutes. She told me that I might have to have a C-Section. The medication would not work on that side unless I laid on that side. They had to give me a second round of the epidural just to take the edge off my right side. It finally worked.
Well, just around 6, they rechecked me and I am fully dilated and ready to push!!! I started pushing and was about 10 minutes into it when my doctor had to leave my room. She was the only doctor on call and there were 3 other women pushing at the same time. One of the women was having problems so she had to leave. My doctor was gone for 40 minutes and Morgan's head was right there and I could not push, which was actually pretty painful even with my epidural. She finally got back in my room and had her out in about 20 minutes, right at 7 am!!
I did rip so they had to stitch me up while Ben took lots of pics and cut the cord. My mom, dad and Peter were outside of the room waiting. They could hear her crying. I was just so glad and actually surprised I could get her out.
She came out screaming her little head off. She had junk in her chest and was trying to get it out. And she looks a lot like Ben!! I will post some pics of her soon...She is waking up right now in her crib ;)
